This here Jaeger-LeCoultre thing, the JLC Reverso Tribute Chronograph, it’s somethin’ else. I seen it down at the specialty stores, shinin’ and lookin’ all fancy. They call it a “Reverso,” which I reckon means it flips around. Ain’t never seen a watch do that before. Reminds me of them flip phones everyone used to have, only this one’s a whole lot fancier. And that name, “Chronograph,” sounds like somethin’ you’d find in one of them science books. Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph. This is a mouthful, I tell ya.

Now, I ain’t one for fancy things, but this watch, it caught my eye. It’s got this shiny metal, and the numbers on it are all clear and easy to read. My old eyes ain’t what they used to be, so that’s a big plus. And the way it flips, well, it’s just neat. Like a little magic trick on your wrist. I asked the fella behind the counter how much it cost, and well, let’s just say I nearly choked on my own spit. More than my old truck, that’s for sure! It’s way more than what folks around here would pay for a watch. They say it is made real good. Real good metal and such. All hand made.

But you know what? I can see why some folks might want it. It’s a statement piece, as they say. You wear that watch, and people know you got some money. Or at least, you want ’em to think you do. They say those specialty stores sell a lot of these. Folks come from all over just to get their hands on one. I guess it is like them fancy cars some people drive. Showing off is what it is.

This one, the JLC Reverso Tribute Chronograph, it’s got two faces. One on each side. One side is simple, just tells the time. The other side, well, it’s got all sorts of little dials and hands. Looks complicated to me, but I suppose if you know how to use it, it’s probably pretty handy. Like a little computer on your wrist. I bet it does more than just tell time, but I don’t know. I just know how to tell time.

  • This watch, it’s strong.
  • It won’t break easy.
  • It’s like them old tools my husband used to have.
  • Built to last, they say.
  • And shiny, too.

I seen a fella wearin’ one of these the other day. He was all dressed up, suit and tie, lookin’ like he was goin’ to a weddin’ or somethin’. He was showin’ off that watch, flippin’ it back and forth, makin’ sure everyone saw it. I reckon that’s what you do when you got somethin’ that fancy. You show it off. Reminds me of my neighbor’s rooster, always struttin’ around like he owns the place.

Now, they got different kinds of these Reverso watches, too. Not just this Chronograph one. Some are simpler, some are even fancier. I saw one with diamonds on it. Diamonds! Can you believe that? On a watch! It sparkled like a Christmas tree. I bet that one costs a fortune. These specialty stores have all kinds of them.

This Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is somethin’ special, that’s for sure. It’s more than just a watch. It’s like a piece of jewelry. A piece of art, even. I can see why they call it a “Tribute.” It’s like they’re payin’ respect to the old way of makin’ watches, but with a modern twist. Like takin’ an old quilt and sewin’ it with a brand new thread.

It’s somethin’ to behold, this Reverso Tribute Chronograph. If I had the money, would I buy it? Well, I don’t know. Maybe. It’s a lot of money for a watch. But it sure is pretty. And it’s somethin’ different. Somethin’ you don’t see every day. Especially not around here.

I keep thinking about that flippy thing. It’s just so darn interesting. Like a little secret you’re carryin’ around on your wrist. And who knows, maybe one day, when my ship comes in, I’ll go down to that specialty store and buy myself one of them Jaeger-LeCoultre watches. Maybe not the Chronograph one. Maybe somethin’ a little simpler. But still, a Reverso. Just so I can flip it back and forth and show it off a little. Just a little, mind you. Don’t want to be like that rooster.

But if you got money, you go get that watch. They are nice. Shiny. Look real good on your hand. You can show other people. They will say, “Oh, that is nice.” Yes, it is.
