What’s this “Peekaboo” thing anyway?
They say it’s like that game kids play, you know, “Peekaboo, I see you!” Hide and seek, they almost called it, but then some fancy lady, Venturini Fendi I think her name was, she liked “Peekaboo” better. Said it fits how you open the bag and see all the stuff inside. Makes sense, I guess, gotta see your stuff, right? Otherwise, what’s the point of a bag?
How d’ya know if it’s a real Fendi?
Now, these city folks, they got all sorts of ways to tell if somethin’s real or fake. They say this Fendi bag, the real ones, they got a little paper card inside. Got some numbers and letters on it, like a secret code. Same numbers is hidin’ inside the bag, they say. That card, they call it an “authenticity card,” but it’s just a paper thing with a booklet ’bout how to take care of the bag. Like I need a booklet to tell me how to treat a bag, right? Just don’t throw it in the mud!
- They say the card tells you the model, the color, and got some lines on it, a “barcode” they call it. Sounds like somethin’ from the grocery store to me.
- Anyways, if you ain’t got that card, maybe you got ripped off. Or maybe it fell out. Who knows? These things happen.
Fendi, Fendi… what’s that all about?
It’s some fancy Italian name, somethin’ you hear them rich folks say. Sounds like “fen-dee,” if you can believe it. They make all sorts of things, fur coats, clothes, purses like this Peekaboo, shoes, even smelly stuff they call “fragrances.” And don’t forget them sunglasses, watches, and other whatnots, “accessories,” they call ’em.
