Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this OMEGA Speedmaster, the Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” edition, you know, the 310.92.44.50.01.001 model. It’s a real beauty, and I finally decided to pull the trigger.
First, I started hunting around online. I checked out a few different places, trying to get a feel for the prices. One place had it listed for around $9k, certified and all. Another spot, Bennison, they said they had one, “like new,” with all the boxes, cards, and the manual. That sounded pretty good.
Then I found another listing for about $7,955. Man, it’s a tough call with these prices all over the place. But I was really itching to get this watch. So, I dug a little deeper into each offer, reading all the descriptions carefully. The Bennison one, with the full set, really appealed to me.
I decided to go for it. I contacted the seller, asked a bunch of questions – you know, making sure everything was legit. They answered everything promptly, and I felt pretty comfortable. So, I wired the money. It was a bit nerve-wracking, sending that much cash, but hey, you gotta take risks sometimes, right?
The waiting was the hardest part. Every day I was checking my email, hoping for a shipping update. Finally, it arrived! I tore open the package like a kid on Christmas morning.
And there it was. The OMEGA box, the watch nestled inside. It looked even better in person than in the pictures. I strapped it on my wrist, and man, it felt amazing. The black ceramic case, the skeletonized dial showing the movement, it’s just a masterpiece of watchmaking.
