So, I decided to get myself one of those CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatches. You know, the ones with the open case back? Yeah, sounds fancy, right? But let me tell you, it was quite an adventure.

First off, I started looking around online. I mean, where else would you look these days? I typed in “CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch open case back” into the search bar, and bam! A ton of results popped up. I started clicking through, trying to figure out which ones were legit and which ones were, well, not so much.

I read somewhere that this particular model was updated way back in ’66, and it’s the one the Apollo astronauts wore on the Moon. How cool is that? They called it the “Moonwatch.”

I also found out that even though it says it’s 42mm, it actually wears smaller. I guess that’s a good thing, especially since my wrists aren’t exactly huge. Then there’s this whole thing about product identification codes. Apparently, each Omega watch has a unique 14-digit code. The first three digits tell you it’s a Speedmaster, like 311. I made a note of that, just in case.

  • Started searching online for the watch.
  • Learned about the history of the Moonwatch.
  • Discovered it wears smaller than the stated size.
  • Found out about the unique product identification codes.

Digging Deeper

I kept digging, reading forum posts and whatnot. Some folks were talking about how to verify if the watch is genuine. I mean, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting ripped off, especially since I was still within the return period. Some people were discussing case backs on the Omega forums, and one guy even found a case back from a ’65 model. Crazy, huh?

I also stumbled upon a few articles saying this watch is a good investment, that it holds its value well. I’m not planning on selling it, but it’s good to know. I also read that the open case back version is kind of special, not something you see on every Moonwatch.

Then I thought, “Okay, how do I actually buy this thing safely online?” I saw a post dated 2024, so it was pretty recent. That gave me some hope that I wasn’t the only one trying to figure this out.

I finally found a seller that seemed trustworthy, and pulled the trigger. Now, I’m just waiting for it to arrive. Fingers crossed it’s the real deal and everything goes smoothly. When it comes, I’ll probably be posting it all over my social media. I mean, it’s not every day you get a CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with an open case back, right?

When I get it I’m gonna open it up and check out that movement. I hear it’s a beauty. And the fact it’s an open case back. I’ll be able to see all the little gears and things working. That’s gonna be cool.

It’s a waiting game now. But hey, good things come to those who wait, or so they say. I’ll keep you guys posted!
