Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Rolex GMT-Master II, the left-handed version, for a while now. I finally decided to pull the trigger and get one. Here’s how it went down.
Scouting Around
First, I started looking around to see where I could even find one of these. I checked out a bunch of different watch shops, you know, the usual places. Some had some pretty good looking Rolexes, but not exactly what I was after. They had the Submariner, the Sea-Dweller, the Yacht-Master, even the Explorer and Air-King. All the classics, just not my lefty GMT.
Getting Serious
After hitting a few dead ends, I got a bit more serious about the hunt. I started asking around, talking to people who know a thing or two about watches. One guy I know, he’s a real watch nut, suggested I broaden my search. So I started going to more specialized shops, even checking out some pawn shops, just in case.
Narrowing it Down
I started to get a better feel for what I was willing to pay, and what kind of condition I wanted the watch to be in. I saw a couple that were in okay shape, but they were asking way too much. I mean, I get it, it’s a Rolex, but I’m not made of money, you know?
The Find
Then, finally, I stumbled upon this one shop. It was a bit out of the way, but I had a good feeling about it. I walked in and started browsing, and there it was. A left-handed GMT-Master II. It wasn’t brand new, but it was in really good condition. We started talking price, and after a bit of back and forth, we settled on a number that worked for both of us.
Sealing the Deal
I made sure to look over the watch super carefully. Checked the movement, the bezel, the bracelet, everything. It all looked good, so I went ahead and bought it. They even threw in a nice little box and some papers, which was cool.
Happy Camper
Now I’m wearing this bad boy every day. It feels great on the wrist, and it’s definitely a conversation starter. I’m super happy with how it all turned out. It was a bit of a journey to find it, but totally worth it in the end.
