Today, I’m gonna talk about getting my hands on that Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the see-through back. It was a bit of a journey, let me tell you.
So, it all started when I finally decided to pull the trigger on this watch. I’d been eyeing it for a while, you know? It’s that classic piece that’s been to the moon and all. I found a few places that had it in stock, some online stores, and a couple of those watch forums. Prices were all over the place, from around 5 grand to way more for special editions. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy, just the regular “Sapphire Sandwich” version.

Getting Technical (a little)
Now, I’m no watch expert, but I did learn a few things during my research. This Speedmaster is 42mm, but it feels smaller because of the crown guard. More like a 40mm watch on the wrist, which is perfect for me. It’s got that Calibre 321 movement inside, which is apparently a big deal. Some guy named Albert Piguet designed it back in the 40s, or something. I read that it’s not as crazy accurate as some of those Rolex watches, but hey, it’s been to the moon!
Anyways, I placed the order, and let me tell you, waiting for it to arrive was torture. Every day felt like a week. But finally, the package showed up. I ripped it open like a kid on Christmas morning. And there it was, in all its glory.
I strapped it on my wrist, and it was love at first sight. The way the light hits that sapphire crystal, the way the chronograph pushers feel when you click them, the weight of it on my wrist – it’s just perfect. And that see-through back? Man, you can stare at that movement for hours.
