That OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing, it’s a fancy thing, ain’t it? I saw a picture of it, and it’s somethin’ else. That young fella next door, he’s always showin’ me stuff on his phone, you know. This watch, it’s got all them little dials, and the colors, well, they’re just somethin’. Not like the old clocks we used to have. This one’s got all the bells and whistles, I tell ya.
They call it a “racing” watch, like them cars that go zoom zoom real fast. I reckon it’s for them fellas that like to drive fast, or maybe just pretend they do. It’s got that black ring around the outside, that bezel thing, with them numbers. They say it’s for tellin’ how fast you’re goin’, but who needs to know that, I ask ya? Just go as fast as you need to, that’s what I always say.
And the colors! They got this yellow, a bright one, like a canary bird. They call it “grand feu” enamel. Sounds like somethin’ fancy you’d eat, don’t it? But it’s just the color on that watch. They put it on that black ring, and on some other parts too. It sure does stand out, I’ll give ’em that.
This here watch, it’s one of them Speedmaster things. They make a whole bunch of ’em, I reckon. Different kinds, different colors. That boy next door, he was showin’ me all the different ones. There’s this “Moonwatch” one, they say it went to the moon! Can you believe that? A watch on the moon. What will they think of next?

- They got one that’s smaller, they call it the Speedmaster Reduced.
- It’s only 39 mm, so they say.
Now, I heard tell there’s some folks out there makin’ fake ones. Tryin’ to trick people, sellin’ ’em watches that ain’t the real deal. You gotta watch out for that, I tell ya. They say the real ones, them OMEGA Speedmaster, they got these little dials, and they’re all spaced out just right. And the numbers on that black ring, they gotta be sharp and clear. If they ain’t, then somethin’s fishy, that’s what I say.
And the way they make ’em, the real ones, they’re put together good. Solid, you know? Not like some of them cheap things you see at the market. These OMEGA ones, they’re built to last, I reckon. They better be, for the price they’re askin’!
This new Speedmaster Super Racing, they say it’s got some newfangled thing inside, somethin’ called a “Spirate System”. Sounds like a pirate, don’t it? But it ain’t. It’s somethin’ about makin’ the watch keep time real good. They’re always comin’ up with somethin’ new, these watch fellas.
I remember back when, we just had a clock on the wall, and that was good enough. Didn’t need all these fancy dials and whatnot. But I guess times change. These young folks, they like their gadgets. And this OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing, it’s sure a gadget, ain’t it?
That racing style minute-track is somethin’ they keep talkin’ about. That’s that circle with all them little lines on it. It looks like it’s meant for keepin’ track of the minutes, real precise like. Like them race car drivers need to know, down to the second, how long they been goin’. I reckon it’s important for them, but I just use the big hand on the clock, and that’s good enough for me.
You know this is a classic style. You see a lot of watches, new and old, look similar to this. I guess that means it will never be out of the fashion. My old watch, the one my husband gave me, god bless his soul, well it is also classic. I wouldn’t trade it for nothing.
So, this OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing, it’s a fancy watch, no doubt about it. It’s got all them features, that “grand feu” enamel, that “Spirate System”, that racing style. It’s a lot of watch, I tell ya. But me? I’m happy with my old ticker. It tells the time, and that’s all I need.
But if you’re one of them folks that likes them fancy watches, and you got the money to spend, well, this OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing, it might just be the watch for you. It’s a classic style.
